Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed President Droupadi Murmu to the Odisha Legislative Assembly, calling it a historic moment in the state’s democratic history. The President, who began her political career in the Assembly, was addressing the House for the first time as the country’s first citizen.
In his speech, Majhi highlighted Murmu’s journey from a humble background to the highest office, citing her struggles and achievements as an inspiration. He praised her contributions to Mayurbhanj’s development and her role as a symbol of empowerment for women and tribal communities.
“She has made an unparalleled contribution to the development of her birthplace, Mayurbhanj. Today, by visiting his first workplace, he has given a message to society that no matter how big a person becomes, he should not forget his birthplace and first workplace,” Majhi said.
The Chief Minister said that a strict penance for service has taken her to the top position.
“It is no coincidence that you have struggled in such an environment and succeeded in politics and reached the highest position in the country. This is the result of your strict penance for public service and the blessings of God,” he added.
The CM outlined the government’s focus on inclusive governance, citing initiatives for women, youth, and marginalised sections. He credited the President’s guidance and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” for the government’s efforts.
“With your guidance and the mantra of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, our government has been serving the four and a half crore people of Odisha,” Majhi pointed out.
He further maintained,“We’ve broken the barrier between the government and the people, bringing us closer to the public. This effort has earned us the title of ‘People’s Government’.”
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the President’s speech would guide the Assembly and promote Odisha’s development, aligning with the vision of a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047.
