Bhubaneswar: The STF (DES) team has identified the prime accused in the spurious O2 tablets as one Manish Kumar of Muzaffarpur, said an official press release.
The team with the assistance of Drugs Control Officials of Muzaffarpur, Bihar seized suspected spurious drugs of cost of around Rs 10 lakh stocked unauthorizedly from the house of Kumar.
Following the detection of the Bhopal link in the spurious O2 tablets detected in Cuttack recently, under instructions of the Health & Family Welfare Department the STF (DES) team comprising of Assistant Drugs Controller, Cuttack Circle-I Dharmadev Puhan, Tushar Ranjan Panigrahi, Assistant Drugs Controller, Cuttack Circle-II, Haripriya Mallick, Drugs Inspector Cuttack-II Range carried out an investigation at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and thereafter at Muzzaffarpur in Bihar which led to the detection of the main culprit Manish Kumar.
However, the team found that Kumar was absconding.
The team was able to establish that the accused had acquired the huge stock of alleged stock from an illegal source and supplied it to other firms having no drug license.
The team is learnt to have shared some important information with police officials of Purighat police station in Cuttack about the accused and have sought for his arrest immediately.
