Jagatsinghpur/Bhubaneswar: Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development and Commerce & Transport Departments Usha Padhee, undertook a comprehensive two-day visit to Jagatsinghpur district to review the progress of key developmental programs and assess ground-level implementation across sectors.
During the visit, Padhee interacted with stakeholders, local officials, and members of the community, emphasizing the need for convergence of departmental efforts, strategic planning, and bottom-up execution for impactful development.
A key focus of her visit was to enhance economic opportunities for women. She directed the Lead District Manager (LDM) to facilitate concessional credit support to women entrepreneurs, especially those working independently outside formal SHG structures. She further advised officials from Mission Shakti, DPM, and Livelihood Mission to identify enterprising women and support them through schemes promoting dairy, fishery, homestead farming, and other viable livelihoods.
Padhee conducted in-depth reviews of flagship schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), AMRUT, and drinking water supply initiatives, while also assessing progress in education, healthcare, agriculture, horticulture, energy, and social security. She laid special emphasis on SC/ST development and inclusive service delivery.
She appreciated the district’s performance in education and urged sustained efforts for further improvement with a long-term, vision-based approach.
Padhee advised the Executive Officers of Jagatsinghpur and Paradeep municipalities to prioritize urban-specific needs and adopt proactive measures to address service gaps. She undertook field visits to the Bhutmundai Truck Terminal and the newly developed Jagatsinghpur Bus Stand, reviewing operational readiness and connectivity enhancements.
Highlighting the importance of resource optimization, she encouraged the district administration to utilize available government land for constructive purposes such as public infrastructure, employment generation, and revenue mobilization.
In a comprehensive review meeting held with district officials, District Collector J. Sonal briefed the Principal Secretary on key achievements and ongoing challenges. Padhee underscored the importance of departmental synergy and participatory governance to ensure the last-mile delivery of government.
Senior officials including Additional District Collector Jyoti Shankar Roy, Zilla Parishad CEO Ravi Narayan Jethi, and other departmental and block-level officers were present during the interactions.
