Jharsuguda: A convict allegedly committed suicide in Jharsuguda Sub Jail here today. The deceased convict has been identified as Subash Rohidas, a native of Brundamal under Badmal police limits of Jharsuguda district.
According to reports, Rohidas was found hanging from a tree inside the sub jail premises at around 2.20 PM today. He was found hanging from the tree with his gamchha (towel) around his neck.
He was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital here by the jail authorities where he was declared dead by the doctors.
In 2015 Rohidas was jailed as an under trial prisoner for rape and later on July 27 this year he was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the court.
However, jail authorities have informed that further probe will be conducted after the availability of the autopsy report of the deceased.
