Cuttack: Just days before his release, a prisoner lodged at Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack has been murdered by his fellow inmate on Monday.
Ramesh had been attacked by fellow inmate Jaldhar Swain after a heated exchange between the two while working in the jail garden.
Though jail authorities rushed him to SCB Medical College and Hospital immediately, the doctor there declared him brought dead.
On getting information at about 8 AM today, his family members reached the hospital and found deep wounds on his neck and back of head.
While jail warder Basudeb has been suspended after the incident, Ramesh’s brother Rabindra has termed it as a conspiracy.
It is worthwhile to mention that Ramesh, a resident of Bidanasi in Cuttack, was arrested and lodged in the prison since 2011 over a murder case.
