Puri: The throat of a prisoner was slit during a murder attempt inside the District Jail in Puri on Monday.
The victim identified as notorious criminal Dhirendranath alias Papu Baral was rushed to Puri Government Headquarters Hospital.
He had been arrested by the Sea Beach Police on charges of extortion on August 23 and was sent to jail after the rejection of his bail plea.
