Bhubaneswar: The All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association today announced to launch the strike across the State from October 20 in protest against the government’s LAccMI (Location Accessible Multimodal Initiative) scheme.
It was informed by Association Secretary Debendra Sahu and Treasurer Barada Acharya.
The association is going on a strike unwillingly as the government failed to keep its promise.
“The government had assured us not to run buses under the LAccMI scheme from blocks to district headquarters. The assurance remained unfulfilled, which forced us to go for a strike,” Sahu said.
“We tender our sincere apology to the passengers for the inconvenience during Puja festival. We had no other option,” he added.
The decision of the association has come as a serious concern for commuters across the state as buses will go off the road from the beginning of the Dussehra festival.
