Bhubaneswar: Making his remarks on the General Budget as well as the Special Agriculture Budget presented by the Finance Minister for the fiscal 2019-20 in the Odisha Assembly today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told media that the budget is a pro-farmer, pro-women, pro-poor and growth-oriented and hoped this budget will fulfill the aspirations of the people of Odisha.
Speaking to media, Naveen Patnaik remarked, “The aspirations of people of Odisha have been reflected in the budget. Two of the major manifesto promises were to expand KALIA and include all eligible farmers, landless labourers and share croppers, and to provide health cover to women up to Rs 10 lakh.”
“Both these promises have been fulfilled in the budget. Our KALIA scheme continues with its scope enlarged to cover 75 lakh farmers. Under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana women will get annual medical assistance up to Rs 10 lakh, highest in the country,” averred the Chief Minister.
He added, “I am happy to note that funds have been allocated for Odia University as well as restoration works for FANI. Rs 100 crore has been allotted for ‘JAGA Mission’ to empower slum dwellers as Rs 130 crore for Mission Shakti at Gram Panchayat level.”
Remarking, “Overall, it is a pro-farmer, pro-women, pro-poor and growth-oriented,” the Chief Minister contended, “Odisha’s economy has grown faster than the national average over the last years. I congratulate Hon’ble Minister, Finance for presenting a progressive budget with strong focus on development to accelerate the inclusive growth. I hope this budget will fulfill the aspirations of the people of Odisha.”
