Bhubaneswar: Process is underway to have video conferencing facilities at jails in Odisha, informed Director General of Prisons Santosh Upadhaya here today.
“We are planning to start video conferencing facilities in more number of jails, the government has directed for installation of the facilities especially in two districts,” said Upadhaya.
The DG Prisons was of the view that with video conferencing facilities in prisons would reduce costs and put an end to under trial prisoners managing to escape while being taken to courts for production.
Upadhaya said that he is open to suggestions and advice to make the system technology-intensive and more transparent.
