**Bhubaneswar**: Ajit Andhare, producer of ‘Budhia Singh: Born to Run’, a film based on child marathoner Budhia Singh of Odisha, on Friday sent a letter to Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Khurda requesting it to grant Buddhia leave to promote the film.
The film which will see National Award winning actor Manoj Vajpayee is scheduled to hit the screens on August 5.
Confirming the news, Soumendra Padhi, director of the film, said the movie’s producer wanted Budhia to promote the film.
“The producer wants Budhia to be present with Vajpayee for its promotional activities to be held across India,” he stated.
Sources said the CWC received the letter this afternoon that said that the producer wants the CWC to grant Budhia leave from July 24 to August 5.
On the other hand, CWC member Benudhar Senapati said as they (producer) didn’t reply to our notice so we wouldn’t accept their request now though we don’t object Budhia from attending promotions.
Budhia reportedly went missing from the Sports hostel here where he was admitted by the state government in 2007 for training. He had left the hostel for home on May 10 and was supposed to return after the summer vacation on June 7 but never did.
After much hue and cry, the Commissionerate Police had confirmed that Budhia Singh along with his mother Sukanti were on a vacation and staying at Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu.
Last week, the police said that the mother-son duo visited Bangalore, Mysore and Ooty before arriving at Kodaikanal. They are scheduled to go Coimbatore and Mumbai before returning to Odisha on July 24 or 25.
