Bhubaneswar: The joy of Subash Chandra Ojha, a plus two student of Dakhina Usuma in Cuttack’s Niali, knew no bounds when he received a letter of appreciation from the Office of Prime Minister recently.

On May 20, it was an election rally addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bali Yatra ground in Cuttack. In the middle of his speech, Modi’s eyes focused on a young youth standing in the crowd waving a splendid painting of him with Lord Jagannath and Akhand Bharat.

The Prime Minister halted his speech for a while and directed his SPGs to collect the painting from Subash. He had requested the artist to note his address and name on the back of the art and he would write to the boy in his address.

Today the prime minister kept his promise and sent a letter appreciating his effort and wishing his well-being.

An elated Subhas couldn’t believe that Modi sent him a letter that he promised during electioneering.

Similarly, Suman Pati of Keonjhar, who had won the Limca Book of Records from her fine art, was surprised to receive a similar letter sent by the Prime Minister. She had an aspiration to gift Modi with her art and her wish came true during the poll rally of PM Modi in Baripada. The PM collected the painting from her in the crowd and promised to write a letter to her. Suman got the letter of appreciation just before Modi took the oath for his third term.

A similar moment of pleasure came to Shankar Pradhan of Patrapur in Ganjam district when he received a letter from the PMO. A marvellous painting created by him had become the cynosure of all eyes in the midst of a heavy crowd at the election rally of PM Modi at Kanisi near Berhampur on May 6.

Modi immediately stopped his address and directed the SPG to collect the creation from Shankar. He had also asked the young artist to describe the name and address on the backside of the painting so that he could send letter to him.

Now, the PM kept his promise and shot off a letter to Shankar giving him a further boost to artistic skill.
