Property Worth Rs 1.32 Cr Belonging To Drug Peddler Jamal Forfeited

Odisha STF Seizes 3.28 KG Brown Sugar In Mayurbhanj, Detains 1

Bhubaneswar: The movable and immovable assets worth Rs 1.32 crore belonging to notorious drug peddler – Sk Jamsad alias Jamal will be seized. According to the Special Task Force (Odisha), the Competent Authority, Kolkata (NDPS cases), has confirmed the forfeiture Jamal’s assets.

Jamal is accused in an NDPS case that involves the seizure of 1.227 kg of brown sugar in February 2022. A financial investigation was conducted in which illegal properties worth of Rs 1.32 crore acquired by the accused Jamal out of illegal contraband business have been identified and seized.

“A detailed proposal for confirmation of seizure/forfeiture of the properties earned out of illegal drugs business was sent to the office of Competent Authority and Administrator of NDPS Act, Kolkata, as per provision of Sec.68 (F) NDPS Act, 1985.” an STF official said.

A native of Haldipadia slum in Laxmi Sagar area of the city, Jamal is a habitual drug trafficker having links with interstate and inter-district peddlers. He has at least three cases pending against him in connection with drug peddling in the Twin City.

“The seized properties include one three storied building, plots etc. The properties were purchased from ill-gotten money of drug trafficking within last six years in his name as well as in the name of his mother,” the STF added.
