**Bhubaneswar:** A day after a letter from the Sports and Youth Affairs (YA) Department to the General Administration (GA) Department on allotment of Kalinga Studio’s unused land for development of sports facilities came into public domain, there has been a lot of hue and cry amid multiple forums.
While the matter is still at a preliminary stage, the Sports Department today dismissed apprehensions on the proposal impacting Odia film industry infrastructure.
Speaking to this News Portal the Department Secretary Vishal Dev said, this is not the first time when the Sport Department has sought allotment of land to develop sports infrastructure in Odisha.
“Besides, we have requested the Government to earmark patches which are lying unused on the premises of Kalinga Studio since long. The proposal being at a preliminary stage, should not be blown out of proportion,” Dev added.
On a couple of occasions in the recent past, Sports Department has requested the State Government to identify land patches for setting up sports complex and playgrounds in different parts of the State Capital, which is expanding significantly.
“The letter about Kalinga Studio was also written with the same objective.
It is a simple proposal from our side as the General Administration Department gets requests from different department and agencies for land allotment. There has been no decision at the government level on this matter so far,” Dev added.
