Bhubaneswar: Protests by opposition parties again disrupted the proceedings of the Odisha Assembly on the last day of the Monsoon Session on Thursday.
Soon after the House met for the day, both Congress and BJP demanding a discussion over the mining scam and death of Dusmanta Das, the youth who had attempted suicide outside the Assembly yesterday.
Following it, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro adjourned the House for the first time till 11 AM.
Later, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) staged a protest in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi inside the Assembly over various farmers’ issues including crop insurance.
The BJD has been demanding implementation of the MS Swaminathan Committee recommendations regarding the minimum support price (MSP) of all crops, for doubling the farmers’ income.
