Bhubaneswar: The special drive against dalals or middlemen operating in RTOs and government hospitals across Odisha has attracted favourable response from public. Some of them, in an exclusive chat with OMMCOM NEWS, expressed their viewpoint on the implementation of the same in the hospitals.
“The State Government has taken an appropriate measure. If Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack are freed of middlemen it will greatly benefit the poor people coming for treatment,” said Kuna Sahu of Unit-8 area in Bhubaneswar.
Kiran Kumar Behera of Lewis Road area of the city asserted, “This system should stay as people who had money were able to avail services by paying the middlemen or dalals but it was not possible on the part of the poor.”
Another city denizen Bisambar Nayak said, “Cleanliness means not only cleaning the environment but a person should also be pure. There is a need of awareness among people and they should not approach such persons who are there to cheat. Some persons should also be engaged or appointed in the medical institutions to assist people.”
Somanath Badajena of Dumduma area in the city said, “Earlier, poor people were unaware about the tactics of the dalals or middlemen. Now because of the steps taken by government they will be able to buy medicines directly and it will put an end to the nexus of the middlemen with doctors.”
