Bhubaneswar: The Puri district administration held the second preparatory meeting for Rath Yatra. During the meeting, issues pertaining to crowd management, timely completion of rituals, and traffic regulations were discussed.
Discussions were also held on various aspects including crowd management, water supply, sanitation, and law enforcement.
The district administration convened the second preparatory meeting to oversee meticulous arrangements for the carnival scheduled to be held on July 7. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Puri district collector Siddharth Sankar Swain at Circuit House.
It was learnt from the meeting at least 865 timber logs are required for the construction of the three chariots. However, the administration has 53 logs which have been left unused. So, the administration needs 812 timber logs for the chariot construction.
Presiding over the meeting Swain said, “Rath Yatra will be held a few days after General elections 2024. So every department has less time to complete assignments.”
This year, the world-famous Ratha Yatra is scheduled will be held on July 7 for which the police have initiated preparations to ensure a smooth and secure experience for devotees. The series of rituals will commence from May 10 with Akshay Tritya, leading up to the Rath Yatra on July 7, Bahuda on July 15, and Sunabesha on July 17.
Among others, additional collector (Revenue) Kailash Chandra Nayak, additional collector (administration) Sarat Chandra Behera, additional collector (Protocol) Nilamadhab Bhoi, superintendent of police Pinak Mishra, additional superintendent of police Sushil Kumar Mishra and Deputy Collector Priyadarshini Mallick were present at the meeting.
