Puri Administration Provides Shelter To Stranded Habisyalis After Protest

Bhubaneswar: Following widespread discontent among habisyalis, the Puri district administration provided shelter to those who were left stranded due to lack of accommodation.

District Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain personally visited the site where the habisyalis were agitating and assured the protestors of proper accommodation facilities. The collector visited the agitating after MLA Jayanta Kumar Sarangi expressed concern over it. After the administration’s assurance, the habisyalis withdrew their protest.

It is pertinent to mention that despite the state government’s announcement to provide accommodation, many habisyalis were left stranded owing to the lack of accommodation facilities. The registration process was supposed to continue for five days, but the portal was shut down on the second day.

The abrupt closure of the registration portal has sparked chaos, leaving habisyalis stranded. Finding no other go, they launched a protest outside the Brundaban Ashram on Thursday.
