Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has made foolproof arrangements for holding the Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath with the participation of devotees.
Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath will be held with the participation of devotees after a hiatus of two years.
In the last two years, the Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath was held without participation of devotees due to the Corona pandemic.
The SJTA expects a large congregation of devotees during Chandan Yatra which commences on May 3 despite heatwave conditions prevailing in the State.
“Today we held the final coordination meeting with all line departments like police, medical, municipality, temple officials, sevayats (temple servitors) for Chandan Yatra which starts on May 3rd. Construction of chariots for the annual Rath Yatra will begin at the Ratha Khala (chariot construction site) from Akshaya Tritiya,” informed Samarth Verma, Deputy Chief Administrator of SJTA and Puri Collector.
Verma said that detailed discussions were held on this at the meeting.
“Basically, since there will be public participation, we have made all arrangements for devotees. As heatwave conditions are prevailing we have made adequate arrangements for the sprinkling of water, and provision of drinking water, ORS, etc,” Verma said.
He informed that arrangements for the deployment of police and management of traffic on the Grand Road have been made.
Similarly, at Narendra Puskarini arrangements have been made for lighting and for devotees to watch the spectacle, he said.
Besides, detailed discussions were held for timely completion of various nitis (rituals), he added.
The Deputy Chief Administrator informed that the district-level coordination meeting for Rath Yatra has been called for May 5 wherein all line departments will be present.
