Cuttack: BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra today filed public interest litigation (PIL) in the Orissa High Court pertaining to the Bagala Dharmasala land allotment matter.
Speaking to media persons here Patra said as per the Sabik record, the Dharmasala spanned over an area of 3.19 acres initially. “Later it got reduced to 2.574 acres which means 216 decimal of land went missing.”
Patra, who was BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate for Puri in 2019 elections, has moved the HC praying for cancellation of the sale deed. “The property belongs to Lord Jagannath and it should be duly returned to the Lord,” he said.
On the other hand, the district administration informed that the land relating to Bagala Dharmasala, is situated over a total area measuring 2.738 acres in Balagandi village. “It was relinquished to Revenue Department on October 25, 2019.”
Earlier, speaking on this matter, Puri Collector Balwant Singh had said that the project plan does not envisage removing Bagala Dharmasala.
“In fact, the Government has plans to renovate and make better facilities for pilgrims. Only a piece of vacant land (12.23 pc) has been utilized for the purpose of rehabilitation and resettlement for those who have given their land for temple development.”
Bagala Dharmasala renovation is a part of Development of Security Zone around Puri Jagannath Temple project. So far, 21 land oustees of Bagala Dharmasala renovation project have opted for cash settlement while six lodge owners chose land as compensation from the State Government.
