Puri: The Additional District Sessions Judge Court here today acquitted all the eight accused including the principal accused Sarbeswar Apat in the sensational Taluchha Bhagaban Mahapatra alias Guna Singhari murder case of 2012.
The accused were acquitted by the court for lack of evidence against them. The court rejected all evidence put forth by the prosecution against the accused persons.
“All the accused persons including the principal accused Doko Apat alias Sarbeswar Apat in the 2012 Taluchha Bhagaban Mahapatra alias Guna Singhari murder case have been acquitted by the court,” informed Prasant Mishra, defence counsel for principal accused Sarbeswar Apat while speaking to reporters here after the verdict was pronounced by the court.
The case by the prosecution could not stand, Mishra added.
Councilor of Puri Municipality and member of Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee senior servitor Taluchha Bhagaban Mahapatra alias Guna Singhari was shot dead near the ‘jaga ghara’ at Manikarnika Sahi of the holy city on 12 September in 2012.
Puri Town police after registering a murder case had arrested eight persons including the principal accused Sarbeswar Apat and Krushna Chandra Pratihari.
