Cuttack: The State Government today informed the Orissa High Court by way of an affidavit that an interim compensation of Rs 5 lakh has been provided to the father of the victim in the alleged Puri custodial death case.
The State Government further told the High Court in its affidavit that a an inquiry into the matter is being conducted by the Judicial Magistrate First Class(JMFC) Puri.
The court has fixed December 14 as the next date for hearing in the matter.
Worth mentioning, Sarat Kumar Rayguru, a Puri-based lawyer, had filed a petition seeking court-monitored investigation and immediate action against the police officials involved in the case apart from compensation to the family of the deceased.
The Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Puri Collector, Puri Superintendent of Police have been made parties in the case.
