Bhubaneswar: The stage is set for the inauguration of the long-awaited Puri Srimandir Parikrama Project on Wednesday. After the ‘Purnahuti’ of the Maha Yajna ends today Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the project on the auspicious Pusha Shukla Sakthi Tithi between 1.15 pm and 1.30 pm.
This is scheduled to be followed by Gajapati King Dibyasingha Deb offering ‘Purnahuti’ to the three-day Maha Yajna, which began on the Makar Sankranti day, between 1.30 pm and 2.00 pm today. Soon after the ‘Purnahuti, a ‘Nama Sankirtan’ and a procession will be organised on the path of the Antar Pradaksha.
All preparations for the inauguration of the Parikrama Project have been completed under the supervision of Ranjan Das, the chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Puri District Collector Samarth Verma, and Central range IG Ashish Singh. Meanwhile, the trial runs on Shree Setu and Sri Marga was also done on Tuesday.
Puri Collector Samarth Verma said, “Shree Marga, Shree Setu, and newly constructed parking lots are ready to deal with the rush during the inauguration.
Security has also been tightened. The whole city is under a police scanner.
Meanwhile, Puri has been decked with flowers and glittering lights for the event. Hundreds of devotees have started converging in the Pilgrim City to witness the inauguration of the Parikrama Project and have a darshan of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra.
The devotees can go around the Parikrama Project after 3 pm today, said the chief administrator of the SJTA.
