Puri: In continuation with the eviction of establishments within the 75-metre range of the Puri Srimandir, the eviction and demolition of the commercial units in the Mangu Mutt perimeter continued today.
The district administration, yesterday, had razed to ground several commercial establishments at Mangu Mutt and the remaining structure of the Emar Mutt.
Additional District Magistrate Binaya Kumar Dash clarified regarding the tumult around the demolition of Mangu Mutt. He said, “Only the commercial units are being demolished. The holders cooperated with us completely. The mutt gadi, temple and stali will remain intact. The district administration is making sure to protect it and will restore it at its best it in future.”
Speaking about the restoration facilities, he said that the holders of commercial establishment at Mangu Mutt will receive the same benefits as that of other displaced holders.
Few days ago Urban Primary Health Centres. (UPHC) at Dola Devi area was demolished on December 4.
The eviction and demolition occurred in the presence of Sub-Collector Bhabataran Sahu, Magistrate, DSP, ASP with four platoons of Police force. Notably, the district administration was in touch with the Mutt’s mahant and discussed the demolition and relocation plan before going ahead with the demolition.
