Puri: In continuance with the demolition of properties within 75-metre security zone of the Puri Srimandir, two residential properties are being demolished today at the Gandua Chora Chaka near the Dakshin Dwar or South Gate at Puri town.
As per reports, the Puri administration had been in talks with the owners and a direct purchase of the plot was undertaken. After eviction, the demolition began today with two bulldozers in action.
Necessary precautions were taken so that the general public do not face any problem. Road from Dakshin Dwar to Paschim Dwar (West Gate) has been shut to avoid any complications. Additionally, five platoons of Police force has been deployed to keep the situation check.
Today houses of Dinabandhu Sinhari and Damodar Sinhari were demolished. The administration plans to raze to ground a total of 185 plots.
An encroached lodging was also bulldozed today.
The road, where the demolition is taking place today, leads straight to Lokanath temple, and with several encroached properties had led to regular traffic clogging. The Puri administration has promised to root out this problem.
Yesterday the demolition of Sana Chata Mutt and other adjacent commercial establishments was completed. The debris, in addition to the rubbish after Mangu Mutt’s demolition, was also cleared.
