Puri: In pursuance of the Odisha Cabinet’s recent approval to implement Justice B.P. Das Commission’s recommendation immediately, Puri district administration in coordination with the district police administration today continued its demolition drive along the ‘Meghanada Pacheri’ (boundary wall of Shree Jaganath Temple).
The exercise that began yesterday also continued today. All the unauthorized structures within 75 meters of radius from the boundary wall are being demolished to pave the way for the safety and security of the world famous shrine.
Talking to media, Puri Collector Balwant Singh said, “The removal of unauthorized structures around ‘Meghanada Pacheri’ that we had begun yesterday, it is continuing today also. I hope, we could remove all the unauthorized structures by today evening. The religious structures linked with the Mandir (Jagannath temple) or faith, we haven’t touched it in the initial stage. We can preserve for the future plan. Steps will be taken accordingly. Now the debris is being removed.”
“We want that the devotees and pilgrims feel that they have come to an extremely different place. There should be religious, spiritual and cultural feelings. Accordingly, whatever facilities and environment have to be made, they will certainly be a part of our master plan. For the time being, we’ll make arrangements for shoe stand, water facility, minimum toilet facility, mat for walking and green environment. Shortly, we will be placing planter there. The vacant space will be now placed with plants. All others will be taken care of by the designer who will be making the future design,” the Collector informed.
