Puri: The health condition of over four hundred persons, including women, children and elderly villagers was stated to have turned critical after there were taken ill for allegedly consuming adulterated food at a marriage feast in Sahana village under Kanas block of Puri district on Friday night.
While all of them were admitted to Kanas Community Health Centre (CHC), around 300 have reportedly recovered and returned home.
On the other hand, there still lots of affected persons undergoing treatment at the hospital.
On the wedding feast late night, the Kanas CHC got packed with the affected persons following which a team of doctors from Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) had to rush there and swung into action.
Sources said that the affected persons included over 100 minor boys and girls of 10-15 years age group and the affected female patients were reported to be above 200.
While the exact reason behind the untoward incident was not ascertained, some suspect it to be unsafe water and others attribute it to food poisoning.
However, the food samples have been collected by the health team and the test report from the laboratory was awaited.
