Puri Police Conducts Mock Drill In Front Of Jagannath Temple

Puri: Puri police today conducted a mock drill at the Simha Dwar of the Jagannath temple for security and discipline purposes in view of the new standard operating procedure (SOP) announced by the temple administration.

“We expect an increased inflow of devotees with the announcement of new SOP by the temple administration. Keeping that in view today we conducted a mock drill at the shed in front of the Simha Dwar for security and discipline purposes,” informed Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh.

Singh said that his men have been briefed on crowd regulation and hassle-free darshan of the deities by the devotees.

“We did a mock drill on how to handle/shift a devotee to the hospital in the event of the occurrence of an exigency without loss of time,” Singh explained.

He said strict checking of people entering into Puri has begun at the three entry points to the town-Grid Chowk, Mangalghat Chowk, and Malatipatapur.

Steps will be taken for zero tolerance to crime, he added.
