Bhubaneswar: Police in the Puri district of Odisha on Sunday issued a set of guidelines with a view to curb the unregulated use of drones during Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra, especially in the region of the Bada Danda or the Grand Road.
According to the police, the guidelines will be strictly followed during the period from Rath Yatra to Niladri Bije of the Trinity.
The advisory read, “It has been observed that during the Rath Yatra period, many private persons/drone operators use drones for taking pictures and videos for various purposes. Unregulated drone usage by inexperienced drone operators poses a risk to the safety of devotees. In the past, legal actions have been taken against a few private persons for violating drone rules.”
The Puri police have issued the advisory on flying drones between June 20 and July 1, 2023, taking into consideration the safety and security of Sri Jagannath Temple, Sri Gundicha Temple, the chariots of the deities, and the safety and security of the devotees.
