Bhubaneswar: The ‘Adapa Mandap Bije’ ritual of Lord Jagannath and His sibling deities Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be held in Puri on Thursday evening. As part of the Rath Yatra rituals, the Holy Trinity of Puri will be taken into the Shree Gundicha Temple after the ‘Adapa Mandap Bije’. It is worth mentioning here that the ‘Adapa Mandap’ is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Jagannath and His siblings.
After the chariots of the Lords reach the Gundicha Temple, the deities spend a day in their respective chariots, and all the rituals are performed on the chariots. On the following day, the deities are taken inside the Gundicha Temple in a ritual known as ‘Goti Pahandi’, wherein Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra are seated on the ‘Adapa Mandap’. The entire ritual is known as ‘Adapa Mandap Bije.’
Subsequently, the ‘pahandi’ rituals of Lord Sudarshana, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Jagannath commence. After the ‘sandhya dhupa’ ritual, the deities along with Lord Sudarshan will be escorted to the Adapa Mandapa inside the Gundicha Temple in a ceremonial procession. Thereafter, devotees can have darshan of the Lords inside the temple.
The Lords will remain in the Gundicha Temple for a week and during this period all the rituals of Srimandir are observed there. During this period, devotees can relish ‘Adapa Abhada’, the special prasad prepared in the temple.
On the ninth day of the Lords’ sojourn, the deities return to their abode. This ritual is known as the ‘Bahuda Yatra’.
