Puri: ‘Dakshina Moda’ rituals of the three chariots of Taladhwaja, Darpadalana and Nandighosa of Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath were completed today. In this ritual, the chariots are turned southwards, and parked at Nakachana Dwara (exit gate) of Gundicha Temple.
This marks the beginning of Bahuda Yatra preparations. The servitors brought ‘Agnya Mala’ (divine approval) to start the ritual after Sakala Dhupa. First the chariot of Devi Subhadra, Darpadalan, is turned towards the south. It is followed by Lord Balabhadra’s Taladhwaja and Lord Jagannath’s Nandighosh.
The wheels of the chariots are oiled and checked before they are turned. A team of police personnel were engaged in turning the chariots in the southern direction amid strict adherence of COVID protocols.
