Puri: A servitor of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri has lodged a police complaint against e-commerce giant Amazon for selling the ‘Nirmalya Mahaprasad’ of Lord Jagannath on its portal.
In his complaint lodged at Singhadwar Police Station, servitor Sambhunath Khuntia alleged that Amazon India has been selling the ‘Nirmalya Mahaprasad’ through its website with prices ranging from Rs 59 to 499.
Khuntia has also apprised the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) about the sale. He questioned even though the SJTA has not allowed any organisation to do such business, why has Amazon not been refrained from doing so.
As only the ‘Suaras’ (temple cooks) are authorised to sell the ‘Nirmalya Mahaprasad’ at the Aruna Stambha of the shrine, Khuntia asked how was Amazon India able to carry this business without anyone noticing.
