Puri Shree Jagannath Temple To Reopen For Devotees From Aug 16

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple here will reopen for the darshan of the deities by the devotees from August 16 (Monday).

According to the Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Krishan Kumar, the temple will reopen for devotees from August 16.

Kumar said that for the first five days beginning August 16, only devotees from Puri town will have the privilege to have darshan.

The temple shall remain closed on account of the weekend shutdown on Saturday and Sunday and all devotees will be allowed to have darshan from August 23, he added.

The SJTA Chief Administrator informed that the temple shall remain open from 7 AM to 8 PM.

For entry of devotees to the 12th century shrine, a two-dose Covid vaccination certificate or a Negative RT-PCR test report of not less than 96 hours will be mandatory apart from maintaining Covid appropriate behaviour, Kumar said.

The temple shall also remain closed for devotees on Shree Janmashtami which falls on August 30, he added.

The SJTA had banned the entry of pilgrims to the temple in April when the second wave of the coronavirus disease was at its peak. All the daily rituals are being performed by servitors and other temple staff.
