Puri Srimandir ‘Dhadi Darshan’ Unrest: Another Servitor Apprehended, Arrest Figure Reaches 98

**Puri:** Another servitor involved in the violence during Puri Bandh on October 3, protesting ‘Dhadi Darshan’ (queue system) at the Srimandir, was arrested by Singhadawar police today.

The accused, Damodar Pujapanda of Manikarnika Sahi, has been arrested and court forwarded on the basis of CCTV footages where he is seen breaking the barricades at the Baisi Pahacha (the holy 22 steps) and vandalising near the Western Gate (Tiger Gate) and Northern Gate (Elephant Gate) of the Srimandir.

With this, the total number of arrested in connection with the said incident so far has gone up to 98. While Singhadawar police have arrested 55 accused, Town police have nabbed 43 others.

Jagannath Sena activists, devotees and servitors had taken to streets on October 3, while observing bandh in Puri, against the queue system at the centuries old Jagannath temple.

During the bandh, protestors had barged into the 12th century shrine and had removed the barricades erected near the temple.

The protestors had also hurled stones at SP’s residence and vandalized the office of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA). They even barged into the house of Puri MLA Maheswar Mohanty and damaged properties.
