Puri Srimandir ‘Dhadi Darshan’ Violent Protest: Some Arrested, More Arrests Soon, CCTV Footage Scrutiny On
**Puri: ** While normalcy has restored in the world-renowned pilgrim city here after the ‘Dhadi Darshan’ (queue system) violent protest by some irate locals on October 3, 22 accused have been arrested since yesterday while more arrests soon as the scrutiny of the CCTV footage is still going on.
Informing media today, Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi said, “After the incident of October 3, peace has been restored in Puri city. Darshan (divine glimpse of deities) of Shri Jew (Lord Jagannath and siblings) is on in a disciplined manner. Normalcy has restored. Thus, I would like to thank the denizens of Puri.”
“Scrutiny of CCTV footage is underway now. Yesterday 11 and today 10 persons have been arrested and forwarded to court,” informed the SP.
He stated, “Whatever problems and complaints the locals of Puri city had, we have solved them. Now they are able to have darshan of the deities inside the temple by showing ID cards and other three gates open to them. Also darshan through Singhadwara (Lion’s Gate) is also going on in a disciplined manner.”
“As per the intelligence gathered by us, some persons with vested interests don’t want that there should be darshan in Srimandir in a disciplined manner for the benefits of the devotees. Those elements deployed their henchmen for commiting the vandalism and ransacking.
Our investigation is digging into the main reason and main source of the crime. Those who are involved in the conspiracy and also those miscreants having executed the crime will definitely be rounded up and the legal action will continue,” the Puri SP averred.
