Puri: Repair work on the Puri Jagannath Temple Ratna Bhandar will resume on Thursday after being stalled for four days. The renovation work was halted from January 12 to 15 keeping in view the crowd of devotees during Makar Sankranti.
Puri District Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain told the media, “The repair work of Ratna Bhandar will resume today. The repair work of the walls will be done today. The damaged stones will be changed and granite will be used in their place.”
It is worth mentioning here that the repair work of the Ratna Bhandar was taken up on December 17. However, the work was stalled a number of times to ensure smooth darshan of the deities during the festivals. For Makar Sankranti the repair work was stalled from January 12 to January 15.
Earlier, state Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan had said that the repair work will be completed before March 2025.
Meanwhile, ‘dhadi darshan’ or the queue system of darshan in the Srimandir is scheduled to commence from January 20. Already ramps and barricades are being positioned for the queue system of darshan.
