Puri Srimandir Servitor Attacked By Fellow Servitor
Puri: A servitor of the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri sustained minor injuries on his forehead after being attacked by a fellow servitor near the Hastidwara (northern gate) of the 12th-century shrine on Monday.
Reportedly, ‘Jatri Sahayak’ servitor Damodar Gochhikar was on duty at the Hastidwara today when ‘Suara’ servitor Ramakrushna Khuntia tried to enter the temple with kudua (clay pots).
As per the directions of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Gochhikar stopped Khuntia and asked him to take the Aswadwara (southern gate). This led to an altercation between the two servitors.
Subsequently, Khuntia hit Gochhikar with a kudua on his forehead. Gochhikar was rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and discharged after preliminary treatment.
A case in this regard was lodged at Singhadwar Police Station following which a probe has been initiated into the matter.
