Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported temperatures in several Odisha cities at 8:30 am today.
As per the latest update shared by IMD, Puri tops the chart of temperatures in Odisha, recording a high of 34.4°C. Following closely are Jharsuguda and Balasore, both registering temperatures of 33°C.
Chandbali has a temperature of 32.8°C, while Bhubaneswar stands at 32°C. Gopalpur and Paradip have temperatures of 31.8°C each.
These temperatures indicate a heatwave-like situation in various parts of the state, with Puri experiencing the highest temperature among the listed cities.
According to the regional weather department, the southwest monsoon, which had been making steady progress in Odisha, has stalled and is unlikely to advance further in the next seven days. As a result, the temperature is expected to rise, and the heatwave will prevail in most parts of the state, including coastal districts.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. The IMD has predicted that the heatwave will continue to affect the state in the coming days.
