Bhubaneswar: Puri has been put under a security blanket under the direct supervision of IG (Central) and SP Puri for the inauguration of the Srimandir Parikrama (Puri Heritage Corridor) project on January 17, informed Odisha DGP (In-charge) Arun Kumar Sarangi briefing reporters at Puri on Monday.
Sarangi said that elaborate security arrangements for the event have been in place for the last few days.
“Apart from this on January 17, four-layer security deployment will be in place. All associated arrangements have been made from traffic arrangements to security for VIPs, security of devotees, smooth darshan by devotees, etc. Around 100 supervisory officers, 250 officers of Sub Inspector and ASI rank, 80 platoons of forces including constables and home guards will be deployed for the purpose,” the DGP (In-Charge) informed.
Four bomb disposal teams, anti-sabotage teams, and three canine squads have been deployed to search for suspected objects and sanitize the area, he added.
“We are hopeful that the inauguration of the Srimandir Prakalpa on January 17 will be completed smoothly with the smooth and proper darshan of the deities by the devotees,” he stated.
