Puri: Ahead of the world-famous Rath Yatra, a young artist from Kumbharpada in Puri has created miniature models of chariots of the three deities using matchsticks.
Saswat Ranjan Sahoo, who is known for his miniature work, has used 4830 matchsticks to make the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
The chariot of Lord Jagannath measures 11.5 inches in height, Lord Balabhadra’s chariot measures 11.4 inches in height, and Devi Subhadra’s chariot is 11 inches in height.
All three chariots are six inches in width. They resemble the actual chariots. Sahoo took 18 days to build the model.
