Bhubaneswar: The All Odisha Bus Owners Association (AOBOA) has sought intervention of the Chief Minister over the issue of the operation of buses under the ‘Mo Bus’ and ‘Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative’ (LAccMI) scheme.
The AOBOA in a letter addressed to the CM on Wednesday has opposed the current decision of the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department to operate ‘Mo Bus’ on new routes from Bhubaneswar Airport to Puri and Cuttack and its plans to operate in Keonjhar and Berhampur.
The Association in its letter has requested the CM to take up the matter for the survival of private bus operators.
The AOBOA has cited in the letter that on October 26 in a meeting chaired by Commerce & Transport Minister it was clarified to maintain status-quo for the present and any expansion of Mo Bus services outside the city limit will be taken by the Committee constituted for the purpose in the H&UD Department.
The Association has pointed out that as the government is planning to operate Mo Bus and LAccMI buses on various inter-city routes throughout the State it would be very difficult for survival of private bus operators.
