Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Raghubar Das on Friday unfurled the Tricolour in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day.
The Governor also received the guard of honour of the parade led by IPS officer AB Shilpa. Sixty-four contingents comprising the ITBP, CRPF, BSF, Fire, ODRAF, Odisha Home Guard, RPF, and Sainik School Police Band participated in the parade today.
Other participants included four cultural groups, a skating team from Odisha Skating Academy, and Dare Devils. Jharkhand Police also joined the Republic Day parade as a guest contingent.
Various departments of the Odisha government presented 12 tableaux. The government departments that presented tableaux included Agriculture, Education, Health, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water, Works Department, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, Tourism, OSACS, OMC, and Fire Services Department. They highlighted their achievements and initiatives.
A flock of pigeons was released on the occasion to mark peace and liberty.
Meanwhile, security was beefed up at the parade venue with a three-tier security arrangement. In all, 160 police officers, 300 constables, 90 sections of the police force, and 150 home guards were deployed in and around the venue during the parade.
The national flag was unfurled in all the district headquarters, offices, and educational and business establishments to celebrate Republic Day 2024.
