Sundargarh: As many as three persons, including two minor brothers, were severely injured after being bitten by a rabid dog at Dhokamunda village under Mahulpada police station in Sundargarh district.

According to reports, the dog first attacked a person sleeping on their veranda, biting their cheek and tearing off flesh. Despite efforts to chase the dog away, it returned and attacked two brothers, aged 9 and 6, who were sleeping on the veranda when their parents were away from home.

The dog bit the 9-year-old boy Binod Nayak’s cheek, causing severe injuries. When his father, Sadhu Nayak, rushed to the scene to save both his sons, the dog attacked him as well, biting his thigh and tearing off flesh.

All three victims were rushed to the Banai Hospital, where they received primary treatment before being referred to Rourkela for further treatment due to the severity of their injuries.

The village is now gripped with fear, and residents are living in terror of the rabid dog. Residents, meanwhile, demanded immediate action to capture and vaccinate stray dogs in the area to prevent further attacks.
