Berhampur: The anti-ragging committee of the MKCG Medical College on Saturday banned four students from the campus in connection with a ragging incident which took place on February 9.
Addressing media, Dean of MKCG Medical College and Hospital Santosh Kumar Mishra said, “Four senior medical students had alleged involvement in the assault of a first year student of the medical college. So, strict action has been taken against those four students. As per the decision, fourth year students Stalin Mohapatra and Jyotiprakash Rout have been barred from entering the campus for two months. They have also been asked to vacate the hostel rooms and not to attend classes.”
“Similarly, the medical college and hospital authorities have restricted entry of two other fourth year students Suryakant Nayak and Ramesh Sethi for being part of the crime. They have been asked to leave hostel and not to attend classes for two weeks for allowing ragging activities”, maintained Mishra..
Notably, the first year student of the medical college had received injuries on his face and neck after allegedly being beaten by the fourth year students on February 9.
The matter came to light after the victim’s father filed a complaint with the Baidyanathpur police in this connection.
