Bhawanipatna: A Plus II second year student of Bhabanipatna Ghoroi Binayak College, a private college in Bhawanipatna, sustained critical injuries in an alleged ragging incident on Sunday night.
According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s father Kamal Bag with the police, the student Ankesh Bag was assaulted and then pushed from the second floor of the hostel building by his classmates.
According to reports, some classmates of Ankesh assaulted him inside the hostel room of Ghoroi Binayak College and made a video of the attack. Subsequently, they allegedly pushed Ankesh from the second floor of the hostel building.
Ankesh was rescued by the college authorities and rushed him to the Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition.
Later, talking to the media, Ankesh alleged that ragging was commonplace in his hostel as the students tortured and beat up other for money and food. Besides, a section of the students smuggle in liquor and consume it in the hostel.
On being informed, police arrived at the hostel and started an investigation into the matter.
