Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced a temporary suspension of darshan at the Puri Jagannath Temple for four hours on Wednesday (August 13) due to the observance of the ‘Rahu Rekha Lagi’ ritual.
As per the SJTA, the ritual will be conducted on the occasion of Bhadrav Krishna Chaturthi Tithi. The darshan of the Holy Trinity—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra—will remain suspended from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm, following the completion of the First Bhog Mandap offering.
The ‘Rahu Rekha Lagi Niti’ involves adorning the Deities with a golden ornament shaped like a line, known as ‘Rahu Rekha,’ which stretches from ear to ear on each Deity’s face. The ritual is believed to shield the Deities from the adverse effects of the planet ‘Rahu’ and holds significant religious importance.
The temple administration has requested devotees to plan their visits accordingly and cooperate with temple authorities during this period.
