Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhakta Charan Das announced that Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will visit Odisha on July 11 to address pressing concerns of farmers, tribal communities facing displacement, women, and youth in the state.
During his visit, Gandhi will interact with various delegations and party leaders to reinforce the party’s commitment to fighting for the rights of Odisha’s people.
The visit aims to energize party workers and reconnect with the people of Odisha. Das stated that Gandhi’s visit will mark a significant step in revitalizing the Congress party’s state unit ahead of future electoral challenges. The party expects that the visit will send a strong message of unity and social justice, setting the tone for upcoming political campaigns in the state.
During his visit, Gandhi will attend a public rally, ‘Sambidhan Bachao Samavesh’, at Baramunda Ground, where he will be accompanied by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal. Gandhi will also hold closed-door meetings with a delegation of displaced tribal families and a farmers’ delegation to discuss their pressing concerns.
The Leader of the Opposition will also meet with members of the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC), PCC office bearers, and Congress MLAs in Odisha. This visit marks Gandhi’s first trip to Odisha after the 2024 General Elections, and the party is expecting it to be a significant boost to their state unit.
