Bhubaneswar: Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is set to visit Odisha today to address a public rally, ‘Samvidhan Bachao Samavesh’ at Baramunda Ground, where he will be accompanied by AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal.
According to sources, the rally is scheduled to take place from 12 pm to 1:45 pm. Gandhi will land at Biju Patnaik International Airport at 11:30 am. He will then head straight to the rally venue.
As per the schedule, Rahul, Kharge, and Venugopal will hold discussions with the Congress Legislature Party, PCC President, and MLAs at Congress Bhavan on organisational matters. They will leave Congress Bhavan for the airport at 4:45 pm and return to Delhi at 5 pm.
The Congress party has been preparing for this event, and the Drivers’ Association has assured that they will not disrupt the movement of vehicles hired for the rally, despite their ongoing strike in the state.
Congress workers and leaders will not face hurdles in visiting Bhubaneswar to participate in Rahul Gandhi’s rally as the Odisha Driver Mahasangha has decided not to intercept vehicles carrying Congress workers and leaders to Bhubaneswar for the party’s “Sambhidhan Bachao” rally on Friday.
This decision comes after a request from PCC president Bhakta Charan Das and other party MLAs to the Mahasangha to cooperate with the Congress party in making the mega rally a success.
