Jharsuguda: Train services on the Jharsuguda-Belphard route in Odisha were brought to a halt since 7.00 am on Thursday as local commuters launched a rail rook agitation at Bhelpahad railway station demanding stoppage of seven trains at the station.
While the agitators are staging a sit-in outside the station premises, the local administration and GRP have clamped Section 144 on the entire area to avoid any untoward incident. Heavy police deployment has been made in the area.
According to the agitators, prior to the outbreak of Covid-19, seven trains were stopping at Belpahad station. However, the authorities have only restored the services of four trains causing immense problems for commuters. They said that the agitation would continue till the Railways conceded their demands.
