**Bhubaneswar:** The girl from Visakhapatnam has no words to thank the special task force of Railway Police as they recovered many of the gold ornaments and other valuables worth lakhs within span of 12 hours just a day before her D-day.
She was on her way to Bhubaneswar from Visakhapatnam on Konark Express with her would-be husband and family for her marriage on May 7. Just as the train approached the station and slowed down, a miscreant climbed up the train and snatched her sling bag and jumped off the train.
“I tried to follow the miscreant but to no avail. I approached the GRP but they did not even lodge my FIR. So we went to the RPF and they immediately plunged into action. Within 12 hours, they recovered quite a big amount of the loot. There were 15 ‘tolas’ gold ornaments, some silver jewellery, Rs 10,000 cash, my phone and some important documents. Some cash, silver jewellery and 7-8 tolas gold is yet to be recovered. My marriage is on Monday and I thank the RPF for their timely help,” said the would-be-bride.
The police have arrested a youth Rabi Nayak while two of his aides are still absconding. He has been handed over to the GRP.
“We are interrogating him and the other two accomplices will be nabbed soon,” said a GRP personnel.
