Bhubaneswar: The summer rain that lashed many parts of the State including twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack has brought a brief relief from the sweltering heat.
After two days of heatwave conditions, the Capital city witnessed heavy rain accompanied by lightning in the evening. The temperature has come down suddenly following a showers.
Several parts of north Odisha including Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj witnessed heavy rain during noon hours under the influence of westerlies.
The sky in Bhubaneswar was mostly cloudy during the day which helped mercury decrease.
The rain lasted around an hour in the Capital. Power supply was disrupted at several parts due to lightning.
The State Capital which emerged Asia’s sixth hottest city two days ago with mercury touching above 43 degrees C, today touched below 40 Degrees C.
The IMD has predicted more rain in parts of odisha during next 24 hours.
On Saturday, 21 towns recorded above 40 degrees c temperature while four stations witnessed above 43 degrees c.
